The core bottlenecks, in short

Auth Persistence & Session Stability

BREAKDOWN 01
Problem
  • Tokens expire on a tab switch. Web auth drops out across simple browser closures and routine tab changes.
  • OTP, over and over. Users get re-prompted for verification on visits that should be automatic.
Corrective action
  • Ship long-lived refresh tokens with cross-device state sync — log in once, stay in.
But, don't: invalidate session tokens on a browser close or routine refresh.

Search Engine Performance & Debouncing

Problem
  • Every keystroke = an API call. No debounce means the network fires on raw input.
  • 300ms+ of dead time. DevTools traces show main-thread lag past the perceptible-freeze line while typing.
Corrective action
  • 300ms debounce + predictive overlay so typing feels instant, not raced against the network.
But, don't: fire network requests on raw, un-debounced keystrokes.

Preview Mechanics & Recommendation Contamination

  • No such thing as "just looking." Checking title details forces a full playback launch.
  • Recommendations get poisoned. One accidental click permanently skews the algorithm — no undo, no downvote.
Corrective action
  • Modal preview + "Not For Me" button on every card and detail page.
But, don't: infer preference solely from video-launch events.

  • A stray hover reshuffles the page. Crowded top menus drop down mid-scroll and cover the hero row.
  • "Continue Watching" keeps moving. Layout re-renders shift it, forcing users to re-search for their own show.
Corrective action
  • Anchor a left icon rail and pin "Continue Watching" permanently to the top of the feed.
But, don't: nest multi-tiered category links inside top hover dropdowns.

But, don't: hide primary playback controls inside secondary modals.
